Day three and our destination was Cabane de Louvie, a remote refuge in the mountains. Ideally we'd hike this over two days, stopping somewhere between Champex Lac and Louvie, but all of us work and holiday time was limited. So, we skipped a stop on the route and headed straight for Louvie. To speed our passage we took a taxi part of the way, to the town of Fionnay, but we had to hike from Fionnay to Louvie as Louvie has no road access.
In the lower left corner is Champex Lac. In the lower right is Fionnay. Near Fionnay you might make out the line for a cable car. I don't think the cable car had been built yet when we were there. At the end of the cable car you can see Cabane de Louvie and the lake.
