We spent our first day in Chania wandering the old town. It is a maze of narrow streets contained by ancient city walls and sprinkled with Ottoman, Byzantine and Minoan ruins.
By evening the streets and restaurants are packed with people, and the stores are still open. It is not high season but Chania still looks very busy.

The Chania port only serves for small boats. If you arrive by ferry you’ll dock about 10km east of Haniá at the port of Soúdha.
