We spent one afternoon and night at Cabane de Louvie which, I might add, is not at Col de Louvie; the col is an hour or so hike from the cabane, it's something we'll cross the next day. The cabane's sleeping quarters—a room with a shelf—were the most modest we would encounter. But the cabane was clean and friendly and I remember being struck by its unisex bathroom. The staff served family-style meals and sent us off in the morning with a pack lunch.
Like many Alpine huts there is no road to the cabane. Everything is brought in on foot, by helicopter, or by cable car.
