Castel Sant'Elmo is a medieval fortress overlooking Naples. It is about a half hour walk from our apartment, though we shortened the trek a bit by taking the funicular.
The castle is a massive building, vaguely star shaped, and it offers a good vantage point for looking down on the city as well as out to the sea, the neighboring islands, and the notorious and active volcano, Vesuvius.
