We're in the charming town of Bath. We flew into Heathrow, trained into London, then took a notably comfortable Great Western to Bath. The apartment took about ten minutes walk from the station. We dropped our luggage then went for a walk into the center of town, passing but not stopping at the abbey and the baths. We'll visit soon enough. We walked until we hit the River Avon, which is where I took this picture.
By the way, there are eight rivers in England named Avon. It reminded me of Boston and its repeated usage of street names; I remember standing at the corner of Tremont and Tremont and thinking, hmm, which way should I go? (This was pre-Google.) I figured it was because Boston is the sum of several towns, each with their own naming system.
